In the January-March quarter, Nintendo shipped 4.11 million Switch systems, increasing its total to 23.06 million for the fiscal year, barely enough to reach its revised target of 23 million. Before reaching its final projection three months ago, the business had expected 25.5 million units for the year, then 24 million. Nintendo cited shortages of semiconductors and other components as the reason for the 20 percent drop from the previous year’s total of 28.83 million systems sold.

Since its introduction in March 2017, Nintendo has sold 107.65 million Switch units worldwide. It’s the company’s most successful home console, having just surpassed the Wii, albeit it still has a long way to go to catch up to the Nintendo DS’s 154.02 million copies or the Game Boy’s 118.69 million.
